I am a fan of Devdutt’s style of retelling mythological concepts through simple prose and stories. I expected an engrossing book that attempts to find and describe similarities between Greek and Indian mythology, but I was a bit disappointed. I guess the book lacked structure. Greek mythology is vast and I guess the characters and their stories got into a hotch-potch! Too many characters, too many stories. The book suffers from confusion – is it an attempt to explore connections between Greek and Indian myths or is it supposed to be a collection of Greek stories?
But then again, Mahabharata too has many characters! Perhaps it may be so that we have been raised in the shadows of Ramayana and Mahabharata and we tend to connect to the analysis more easily.
